Use of AI tools by employees without the company's approval or oversight, exposing sensitive data to third-party services.
Shadow AI is the AI counterpart of shadow IT: employees paste contracts, source code or customer data into personal ChatGPT accounts, outside any framework. The company has no traceability, no control, and no contractual guarantee over that data.
Banning doesn't work: studies show that a large majority of employees use AI, authorized or not. The effective response is to provide an internal alternative at least as good, same models, familiar interface, within a controlled framework: that is precisely the role of a sovereign AI platform.
